Washington state has two different regions with very different climates. The western coastal region has mild weather year-round with lots of rain. The eastern part of the state is arid with warm summers and cool winters. Seattle is known for its aquarium and the Space Needle. For outdoor activities, you can go hiking, mountain climbing, or skiing. Four Washington ultrasound technician schools are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). One of them offers a bachelors degree, and three of them offer associates degrees. The titles of the sonography school programs vary a little bit. Some schools say they are Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound, training, and other schools call their programs Diagnostic Sonography.

Career Outlook for Sonography in Washington

In Washington, the demand for diagnostic medical sonographers is high. It is one of the fastest growing occupations for people with associates degrees. Sonographers earned an average of $42.12 an hour in 2016. More than half of the sonographers find work in hospitals. Others are working in health centres and clinics. The state of Washington offers four sonography training schools, and one of them offers a bachelors degree. Three of the ultrasound technician schools are in the Seattle metropolitan area.

The largest hospitals (other than psychiatric hospitals) are: Providence Regional Medical Center two campuses (Everett), Swedish Medical Center/First Hill Campus (Seattle) with campuses in other locations, University of Washington Medical Center (Seattle), Harborview Medical Center (Seattle), PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center (Vancouver), and Sacred Heart Medical Center (Spokane). Therefore, you can train there and find jobs in large hospitals.
